A seasonal or event based campaign can have many benefits. Each year there are many regular events that you can ‘plug in to’. Some times these events are bi-annual events or every four years as is the case with the Olympics or Soccer World Cup Finals.
The first step is to identify events that have a synergy with your product or service…
e.g.
Riding Saddles - Horse of the Year Show
Football boots - FA Cup Final
Winter Olympics - Ski Wear
However we must look a little deeper and think more laterally if we are to make the most of event based SEO programmes. An example that we are playing with at the moment are wines suitable for drinking and enjoying whilst enjoying the Fifa World Cup Finals in South Africa. Leading wine regions of the world seem to correspond really well with top wine producers. Why this is I have no idea, what Argentinian Malbec and Lionel Andrés Messi have in common is that they both enjoy the long dry summers and obviously travel well! Leading soccer nations are France, Spain, Australia and Italy - all major producersof wine.

We would expect for this to peak over the tournament weeks, but the residual benefit to associated sites to be of significance for years to come.
