Masquerade Masks

It’s December again and around this time of year there are many Christmas parties, social gatherings and nights out happening. A popular event in many parts of the world including Europe and North America are Masquerade Balls, where participants wear a costume and a special Masquerade mask.

The appeal of  Masquerade masks is the ability to remain anonymous. Their original use originates back to medieval times; where they were worn to mark a point in royal dynasty or to celebrate a marriage. Since these times Masquerade masks have become a popular item and slowly spread to many different parts of the world.

Masquerade masks are still worn today for many different occasions. They are especially popular with charity events, private parties, weddings and Christmas parties.

Wearing a Masquerade mask can be a part of any outfit, especially at fancy dress parties.

Masquerade balls have been featured in several films, such as Batman Returns, Labyrinth, Eyes Wide Shut and they’ve were also in the TV show Gossip Girl.
